20/06/2025 - Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial -
								This monument is dedicated to the former President of the Republic of China.
								Chiang Kai-shek was a Chinese military and political leader who served as the President of the Republic of China from 1948 until his death in 1975.
								He was a key figure in the Chinese Civil War and the Second Sino-Japanese War, and he played a significant role in the history of Taiwan.
19/06/2025 - Jiufen streets -
								In the streets of Jiufen, we can see a lot of red lanterns and traditional buildings.
								There are many shops selling souvenirs, snacks, drinks and local food.
								Local drinks include tea, bubble tea, grass jelly, banana milk and fruit juices (mostly watermelon).
18/06/2025 - Small turtle on a rock -
								This turtle was located in the Taipei Daan park, on a rock near the pond.
								Turtles are common in Taiwan, and they can be found in many parks and lakes.
								The Daan park is the largest park in Taipei and has a pond with an island in the middle.
								There are a lot of birds in the middle that many people observe around.

								Jiufen is a city located in the north mountains of Taiwan.
								It was once a gold mining town during the Japanese colonial period and is now a popular tourist destination.
								The streets are filled with traditional tea houses (like the one on the photo), souvenir shops, and food stalls selling local food and snacks.
								It is also famous for looking like the setting of the animated movie 'Spirited Away' (Le voyage de Chihiro) by Studio Ghibli.

13/06/2025 - Inside Tapei 101 -
								Inside the Taipei 101 tower, from the ground floor to the 5th floor, there is a shopping mall with a lot of luxury brands.
								After that, there are offices from the 6th to the 87th floor.
								Finally, on the 88th and 89th floors, there is an observatory with a great view of the city.
12/06/2025 - Playing Mahjong -
								Mahjong is a traditional Chinese game that is played with tiles.
								It is usually played by four players with a set of 144 tiles, which are divided into different suits and honors.
								The objective is to build a winning hand by drawing and discarding tiles.
								The game is very popular in Taiwan and China and is often played in family gatherings or with friends.
								It is very similar to the game of Rummy (Rami), but with tiles instead of cards.

								We can see a fish with a dragon head, a common symbol in Taiwanese temples.
								In the believes, the dragon was once a fish, but it swam upstream and jumped over the Dragon Gate waterfall, transforming into a dragon.
								This is a symbol of perseverance and determination, and it is often used to represent success and achievement.

								Forests in Taiwan are different from the ones in France.
								They are often very dense and humid, with a lot of different species of trees including pine trees, cypress trees, and bamboo.
								There are also a lot of different animals like monkeys, deers, birds, and a lot of spiders.
20/05/2025 - Din Tai Fung -
								Din Tai Fung is a famous Taiwanese restaurant located in the Taipei 101 tower specialized in dumplings.
								It is mainly known for its xiaolongbao, a type of steamed dumpling filled with soup and meat.
								In 2013, it was ranked the No. 1 restaurant in the whole Asia continent.
								It was the best restaurant I've been to during my trip, and I highly recommend it to anyone who goes to Taiwan!
								Just know the waiting time is sometimes around 2 hours, so you have time to visit the Tower after taking your reservation at the desk.
19/05/2025 - Kaohsiung Great Harbor Bridge -
								This bridge in Kaohsiung connects the two sides of the harbor.
								It rotates once every day to let the pedestrians pass instead of the boats, we can see it halfway open on the picture, so going from nothing to nothing on top of the river.
								It was built in 2018 and is 110 meters long.
								The bridge reduces the original walking time between the two sides of the dock from 30 minutes to 3 minutes.

15/05/2025 - Night view of Taipei -
								Taken on the Elephant Mountain, the night view of Taipei has a lot of lights and colors.
								At the time of the picture it was the day of the Taipei 101 Marathon, which takes place every year.
								Participants have to climb the 91 floors of the Taipei 101 tower which is equivalent to 2046 steps.
								So that's why we can see a little boy running on the top screen of the tower.
								Usually the night, the tower is illuminated with a color that depends on the day of the week, a different color for each day.

								There are around 15,000 temples in Taiwan, 9684 Taoist Temples, 2317 Buddhist Temples, and 2845 Christian Churches.
								Some temples are even dedicated to animals and a famous one for a pair of Dutch Admirals.
								Religion is an important part of Taiwanese culture, and temples are often the center of community life.

								A simple meal in Taiwan usually consists of rice, vegetables, and a meat dish.
								This shows a typical meal with some rice, lettuce, spinash, corn and fried chicken with a sauce.
								We can also take as many rice, soup and tea as we want depending on our hunger.

						Incense is made from a mixture of aromatic plant materials, essential oils, and other natural ingredients.
						The process of making incense involves grinding the ingredients into a powder, mixing them with water to form a paste, and then shaping the paste into sticks or cones.
						Once the incense is shaped, it is dried in the sun until it is hard and ready to use.

04/05/2025 - Taipei 101 tuned mass dumper -
						This is the tuned mass dumper of the Taipei 101 tower, a 660 ton pendulum that is used to stabilize the building during earthquakes and typhoons.
						It is located on the 87th floor (380 meters above the ground) and is the largest mass damper in the world.
						When the building sways, the mass dumper moves in the opposite direction to counteract the motion and reduce the building's sway by up to 40%.

								Sunset on Taipei from the Elephant Mountain.
								We see the whole city and Taipei 101, the tallest building in Taiwan and tallest in the world at the time of its completion in 2004 (508 meters).

01/05/2025 - The Lich King - 
						This picture was taken in Taichung, in the Calligraphy Greenway. 
						It shows the statue of the Lich King, from the game World of Warcraft by Blizzard.
						It was sculpted by Steve Wang and installed in 2016, it is the only Blizzard statue in Asia.
						We can also see a little pigeon on his shoulder.

								This is a traditional Chinese paifang (or archway) marking the entrance to Kaohsiung Port. The sign reads '高雄港', which means 'Kaohsiung Harbor'.

					Xingang Fengtian Temple is a temple located in Chiayi County.
					It is dedicated to the goddess Mazu, who is the deity of fishermen and sailors.
					The temple is known for its architecture, festivals, and celebrations.

						 To worship the goddess of the sea Mazu, one of the most important deities in Taiwan,
						 the locals set off firecrackers to ward off evil spirits and bring good luck.
						 The guy in the picture is going through the firecrackers to show his devotion to the goddess.

						Song of the Forest is an installation in Chiayi that symbolizes the sacred tree, the tunnel, and the track of Alishan Forest Railway to show the transition of light and the magnificence of Alishan.
						It was created by the artist Wang Wen-Chih in 2011 using wood from the Alishan forest.

						At the moment the photo was taken, a stage projector emitted a bright flash of light that illuminated the camera.

						The Anping Tree House is a former warehouse located in Tainan.
						It was built in 1867 by the Tait & Co. trading company.
						The building was later abandoned in the 1970s and was taken over by banyan trees, which grew over the structure and created a unique natural environment.

						This entrance of the bridge to the Zuoying Yuandi Temple is shaped like a dragon.
						We can enter in the mouth and exit from the tail.
11/04/2025 - Mille crêpes -
						It is my birthday today so here is a cake!
						The Mille crêpes is made of layers of crêpes and cream and was invented by the Japanese pastry chef Emy Wada.
						While in France, she fell in love with crêpes, but being very thin they tend to dry out quickly.
						Emy discovered that stacking them in layers with a filling in between preserved their freshness.
						She called her creation “mille crêpes,” a mix between crêpes and mille-feuille.
						This cake is very popular in Taiwan and you can find different versions of it everywhere.

					On the middle left, the Kaohsiung Music Center, a concert hall with a unique architecture.
					On the middle right, the 85 Sky Tower, the tallest building in Kaohsiung and second tallest of Taiwan.

			Capybaras are the largest rodents in the world, native to South America but now found in many parts of the world as Taiwan.
			This picture was taken in the 'Three little pigs' farm, a leisure farm located just next to Minxiong.

					This temple is dedicated to Mazu, the goddess of the sea.
					We can see offerings to the goddess, including flowers, fruits, and false money that are burned to send to the goddess.

06/04/2025 - The Dome of Light -
					The Dome of Light is a large stained glass installation located in the Formosa Boulevard MRT station in Kaohsiung.
					It was designed by the Italian artist Narcissus Quagliata and is one of the largest glass installations in the world.
					The dome is 30 meters in diameter and consists of 4,500 illuminated glass panels, taking 4 years to be completed.
					The installation is divided into four sections representing the birth, growth, glory and dimming of the cosmos.

					The Kaohsiung Eye is a Ferris wheel located on top of the Dream Mall in Kaohsiung.
					It is 50 meters tall but 102 meters combined with the building under.

					For the first of April, here is a picture of the outside of 'Big Fish's Blessing' in Tainan, 
					the huge whale structure I have shown earlier located near the coast. Big fish!
31/03/2025 - Wild macaques -
					During a nature walk on a Kaohsiung mountain, we came across some wild macaques near the road.
					There were a lot of them, not afraid and acting indiferently to us.
					I pictured theses two ones helping each other to clean their fur.
					You can also see a third one in the left if you look closely!
30/03/2025 - Dragon and Tiger Pagodas -
					The Dragon and Tiger Pagodas is a temple constitued of two pagodas located in the Lotus Pond in Kaohsiung.
					The temple was built in 1976 and is decorated with a huge dragon and tiger.
					Both towers are seven storeys tall and have yellow walls, red pillars and orange tiles. A zigzag bridge connects the towers to the shore.

					This picture was taken on the Shoushan mountain in Kaohsiung.
					It is a point of view on the entire city and harbor.
					In the top right corner we can see the 85 Sky Tower, the tallest building in Kaohsiung and second tallest of Taiwan after Taipei.
28/03/2025 - Japanese Restaurant -
					This picture was taken in a traditional Japanese restaurant in Chiayi.
					We ate a lot of different sushi, sashimi, and other Japanese food.
					Every dish is served through a conveyor belt with 'space ships' that bring the food to your table.
					The food we ate was based on seafood, such as salmon, tuna, shrimp, crab and even eel!
					It was by far the best japanese restaurant I have ever been to.

					It is a factory by the brand Gelī where they turn kumquats into various products like candyied kumquat, kumquat juice, kumquat sirup, kumquat jam, and even kumquat hot sauce!

					It is a place with a lot of art installations and shops.

					It's only in Taiwan that you can see an U.S. Destroyer used in multiple wars being sponsored by a mobile game having a huge cute mascot onboard!

					Gashapon are vending machines that dispense toys in capsules.
					They are very popular in Japan and Taiwan, and you can find them everywhere in the streets, or even entire rooms of it like on this picture.
					They are often used to sell toys, figurines, and other collectibles.
					They are very popular among children and adults, and are often used as a way to collect and trade items.

					Miyahara is a famous surprising ice cream shop in Taichung.
					It was originally an ophthalmology clinic built by a Japanese optometrist in 1927.
					The building was renovated in 2011 and turned into a restaurant and ice cream shop.
					There is also a huge library on the second floor, and a small garden on the rooftop.

					This picture was taken inside the huge tropical rainforest greenhouse in Taichung.
					Here is the outsite dome that measures about 31 meters in height and 56 meters in diameter.
					The outer frame is constructed of high precision steel and glass.

				National Chung Cheng University offers a lot of clubs for students, and one of them is the Fire Dance club.
				Theses are students from my school that practice every day and perform multiple times a year.
11/03/2025 - Bubble Tea, first round : Taichung -
					Bubble tea is a taiwanese drink invented in 1988.
					It was originally made with tea, milk, brown sugar, and chewy tapioca balls.
					You can find bubble tea shops everywhere in Taiwan, and the drink has now spead everywhere in the world with more than 500 bubble tea shops in France.
					This picture was taken in Taichung, in the tea room where the drink was invented... well maybe.
					There are two main bubble tea shops that claim to be the first one to have invented the drink, Chun Shui Tang in Taichung (where I went), and Hanlin Tea Room in Tainan.
					They went into a legal battle to know who was the first but the case was dismissed, because the Bubble Tea is not a patented product.
10/03/2025 - The Rainbow Village -
				The Rainbow village was painted by a former soldier, Huang Yung-Fu who was living in the village.
				He started painting the walls of the village in 2010 to save it from demolition, and the mayor of Taichung decided to keep it.
				Named 'Rainbow Grandpa', he passed away in January 2024 at 101 years old, but his work is still there and is now a popular attraction in Taichung

					This picture was taken inside a huge tropical rainforest greenhouse in Taichung.
					The greenhouse measures about 31 meters in height and 56 meters in diameter.
					The outer frame is constructed of high precision steel and glass.
					Inside is a simulated rain forest, complete with rain, where you can walk besides lush green plants and tall trees, all originated from Taiwan.

					Taiwanese streets are often narrow and crowded with scooters.
					They are also full of shops, restaurants, and street food stalls.
					They often use a lot of metal in their buildings so it's cheaper to build and repair in case of an earthquake.
07/03/2025 - Sleeping bear -
					This statue is located in the Sleeping Forest, a small park in Chiayi near the Hinoki village.
					An illustrator designed a group of cute sleeping animals with the theme of 'Sleeping', including a white bear, a pink elephant, a stone tiger (that we can see behind), a penguin, and a fox.
					They are waiting, sleeping peacefully under the trees of the park, allowing travelers in a hurry to take a rest with the sleeping animals.

					The Wenhua Road Night Market is a popular night market located in Chiayi.
					A night market is a road of street markets that opens at night and where you buy street food and eat while walking to find other food.
					It is very popular in the taiwanese culture.

					The Alishan Forest Railway is an 86 km network of railway lines running up to and throughout the popular mountain of Alishan in Chiayi County.
					The image shows an abandonned garage park of the railway in Chiayi.

					Chiayi is a city located in the south of Taiwan and is known for its rich cultural heritage and beautiful landscapes.

					The 'Three little pigs' farm is a leisure farm located just next to Minxiong.
					You can find there a lot of animals, including pigs, capybaras, goats, birds, pink flamingos and birds.
					There were a lot of activities for childrens. Well, almost everyting were for childrens, but it was still fun!

					Taiwanese landscape around Chiayi is a mix of mountains, hills, and fields.
					In this typical landscape, you can see the mountains in the background and a pineapple field in the foreground.

					Taiwanese cuisine is a mix of Chinese, Japanese, and local influences.
					Most of the time, it includes rice, vegetables, fried meat, and an egg omelette.
					This picture shows a typical Taiwanese meal with some Korean influences.
					This menu is served with black tea and costs the equivalent of 3 euros in France.

					Wandering dogs are pretty common in Taiwan.
					They are often seen sleeping in the streets, in front of shops or in the middle of the sidewalk.
					Even if they are wandering, they are usually well-fed and taken care of by the locals.
					The one in the picture is quite famous, and often seen in the streets of Minxiong.

					Pineapple Hill is considered to be the hometown of almost every pineapple variety in the world.
					It is located next to CCU in the middle of hills.
					The field is approximately 700 hectares, and features a variety of pineapple-derived products, including pineapple vinegar, wine, fermented beverages, and jams.
